The Blue Mask - Lous best album ?

The title track just blows me away and has done since the day it came out. I just think its the perfect Lou album,bloody awful cover but we cant have everything can we.After posting this ive just got the album out and give it a blast it is his best,There isnt a bad track on it

I think it's his best. The title track is my favorite Lou song. Waves Of Fear may be the best paranoia song ever. This album has a Velvet feel about it in the way it can be very pretty and very brutal from track to track. It may also be the most humble sounding Lou on any of his albums.

There is a line in Average Guy I've always thought was funny and I've never heard anyone else comment on it. It's "I'm average in everything I do, my temperature is 98.2". Now, I've always heard the average temp of the human body is 98.6. Is Lou telling us he is just a little cooler than everyone else?

I agree that it's his best, and I think we largely have Robert Quine to thank for it. Lou always performs better when there's someone on hand to challenge him, be it Cale and Warhol with the Velvets, or the legacies of Bob Dylan and John Lennon when he turned in incredible performances at their tribute concerts. Quine forced Lou to step up his game on this album. Lou's go-for-broke songwriting throughout this one really sets it apart too.

It's a great album, I really love the "I'm too afraid to use the phone..."-part in Waves of Fear!
